Neri García Bio

Neri García was born in Mexico City. She started her studies in Graphic Design at the UDLA-P, Mexico and holds an MA in Visual Communication from the Universität Gesamthochschule Kassel, Germany, with the specialties of Graphic Design and Animation.

 

She has worked as an animator, designer and art director since 1996 in Mexico, Germany and the United States for different clients in a variety of industries, both as a freelancer and in Advertising Agencies.

 

She previously taught Graphic Design at Miami Dade College, Miami International University and Miami Ad School. Currently, she is a Graphic Design professor at the University of Miami in the Strategic Communication Department under the Creative Track.

 

She continues to freelance in a variety of graphic design and illustration projects, as well as consulting on corporate branding to small businesses, and has worked on the design and publishing of several books.

 

She was awarded several grants for the development of "Temikki garden" an augmented reality app for children undergoing emotional distress, based on her story of dreams, hope, and faith. Currently she is collaborating in its creation with the Interactive Media Department of the University of Miami.

 

In her free time, she writes and illustrates children's books about difficult topics like separation and loss, through the lens of acceptance and hope. "Two Places to Love”, "Eternal Bonds" and “Temikki and The Dream Garden” are her published bilingual books.

 

Founding partner of Yoliia, a company dedicated to the creation of tools and systems for emotional support for children and adults fostering creativity imagination and hope.
